Ocala Breeders’ Sales nearing 300 horses, $50 million as March session concludes

Nearly 300 horses have been sold for over $46 million through the first two days of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales March session, which concludes later today.

The 2024 Ocala Breeders’ Sales March Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training began on Tuesday, March 12, and concludes on Thursday.

In total, the event will feature the sale of over 800 juvenile horses, according to OBS.

During the first session, 153 horses were sold for a total of $20,844,000. Although the gross is slightly down from last year’s first session, the total number of horses sold was up from 149.

During the second session, 144 horses were sold for a total of $25,488,000. According to OBS, the median price ($87,500) was identical to last year’s second session.

The largest sale over the first two days came on Wednesday, when a bay colt was sold for $1.5 million.

At least two other horses have also breached the $1 million sales mark through the first two sessions.
