The company measured the average sale price per square foot at $160, and the average rent for a 1-bedroom apartment at $1,163. According to the study, the median household income in Ocala is $46,841.

To conduct its study, the company considered cities with 50,000 residents or more, according to the most recent U.S. Census. The cities had to have a median home sale price and average sale price per square foot that was under the state average.

The data used in the study was obtained during August 2023, according to the company.

As of August, the company stated that the median home sale price in Florida is $408,200, and the average sale price per square foot is $234.

In addition to Ocala, the only other city from the northern half of the state to make the list was Gainesville, which ranked #2.
