Have you tried this Ocala restaurant’s chicken and waffles?

An Ocala restaurant that specializes in fried chicken, waffles, and southern favorites recently moved to a new location within the city.

The Waffle Shop officially moved into its new digs at 2507 NE Jacksonville Road on February 1. Founded by Marcus Williams a year earlier, the shop formerly operated out of 1415 NW 10th Street.

True to its name, The Waffle Shop offers four signature waffle types (regular, strawberry, red velvet, and chocolate) and a variety of toppings, ranging from Cinnamon Toast Crunch to fresh-cut fruits like bananas and strawberries.

Chicken options include tenders, drummettes, or whole wings, all of which may be purchased separately or with waffles.

In addition to the aforementioned combinations, The Waffle Shop also serves a variety of classic Southern dishes, including fish and grits, shrimp and grits, turkey necks, chicken gizzards, and seafood rice.

For those looking for something lighter, grit bowls are served with grits, eggs, cheese, and 1 protein (i.e., bacon, sausage, corned beef hash) for $7, or two proteins for $9.

The Waffle Shop is open Monday through Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
